Press Release: Nicaragua

LOCAL WOMAN TO VOLUNTEER IN NICARAGUA FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Vancouver, WA (December 12, 2014) – Crystal Steinmueller, President of 2 Hands 7 Continents, will be traveling south for the winter. She will be volunteering over her winter break at an ecological reserve in Nicaragua.

Steinmueller will spend 2 weeks at Estación Biológica in the Laguna de Apoyo Nature Reserve. Estación Biológica is operated by FUNDECI/GAIA, which is a non-profit that has been around since 1973. Their primary focus is community development and sustainability.

The projects Steinmueller will work on are reforestation and animal rescue. “I’m delighted at the opportunity to return to Central America,” Steinmueller says. “I love volunteering with animals and nature.” In 2010, Steinmueller volunteered in Guatemala with spider monkeys, macaws, and street dogs.

Steinmueller works for the Special Education Department at Battle Ground High School. “I’m thankful I have a job that allows me to travel and volunteer,” Steinmueller added.

You can follow Crystal’s volunteer trip to Nicaragua on the 2 Hands 7 Continents website, www.2h7c.org, as well as the 2 Hands 7 Continents Facebook page, www.facebook.com/2hands7continents.
